        Hess 1982 First Hess Truck A classic in more ways than one, the "First Hess Truck" ranks among the most finely detailed toy trucks in the series. It is based on the second­hand six-wheeled Chevy fuel delivery truck that company founder Leon Hess drove when he started the company in 1933, so it is, quite literally, the first Hess truck. This eleven-inch toy is painted in the original Hess quartet of colors and filled with marvelous features - opening doors that reveal the cab interior, working lights, rubber foot treads at the door, and a rubber oil-delivery hose that spools and unspools.         We recently purchased an estate of G scale model trains and included was a collection of Hess Trucks. While there is not a particular scale associated with this brand, they are a highly collectible item and if not purchasing to collect, some would actually fit well as scenery items on a model train or slot car layout.

        All HESS trucks we have listed on our site are “New Old Stock” meaning that they include all original packaging and literature, and the item shows no evidence of ever being run or used beyond storage. New Old Stock packaging will usually show signs of shelf storage, but the contents will be in excellent condition. All of our HESS truck boxes have been opened in order to inspect for any corroded battery compartments in both the main vehicles as well as any secondary or accessory vehicles which may be part of the HESS product.

        *Batteries are NOT included with any of our HESS products (to eliminate potential corrosion on shelf).
